Here's one for the transcribers!

I know I said I was on strike, but I'm back this once for some exciting news. Ever created a multipart ABC and not known what instruments would sound best together? Ever get irritated at having to bully/bribe/trick friends into testing your ABCs, and then having to go back to the drawing board?

Then this program is for you!

A big shout out and a thank you to Digero of Landroval for all the hard work he puts into the programs he makes for the LotRO music system. He's come up with a new jem! A way of listening to your multi-part ABCs out of game. A much easier way of perfecting those unfinished multi-part ABCs!

Check it out, and don't forget to leave feedback for him!

Warden stop slacking!

Title says it all. Put down the beer and step toward the computer! /drums fingers impatiently. Until I get me some Warden, I'm on strike. Love you!

Song of the Week #5!

Sorry for slacking last week. Website down + busy RL = teh sux. So I was trolling the songbook list trying to pick out my favourite songs and make them a little different every week. This week I'm going to pick one of my own songs, and pat myself on the back. /pat /pat.

It's probably my favourite ABC to play, ever, because it's a really pretty song and it's a solo. I don't think many people recognise it, but it stands up by itself imho. I also wanted to show what can be done by making your own ABCs. This weeks ABC is showcased in the ABC tutorial page. ABCs can be very simple and satisfying to make and if you only use TFL to get ABCs and don't upload any, I suggest you pick your favourite song and give it a go! This website provides most (if not all) the resources you need to start making your own music in LotRO.

So this weeks SotW is Bron-yr-aur by Led Zeppelin. Check it out!

Song of the Week #4!

~ Figgy ~ 30th March, 2010
Hail, fellow musicians! This week I'm gonna keep it short and sweet because my fingers are so cold they're about to fall off. Those who like Classical Music should appreciate my choice this week.

My friend Eomin showed me this video he made of an ABC he found on TFL. I thought it was absolutely awesome! He seems to have a thing for playing with as many people as possible, and did a 7 man version of a 6 man song. This song utilises the volume options that LotRO has for it's ABCs:

  • +ppp+ (quiet)
  • +pp+
  • +p+
  • +mp+
  • +mf+(default/normal volume)
  • +f+
  • +ff+
  • +fff+ (loud)

  • As such, it's a totally rocking ABC especially when you compare it with the original, and it looks really fun to play as it ramps up the intensity! So this weeks nod is to Tirigifu of Elendilmir, and his version of Orff's O Fortuna.

Thanks for uploading this, and I hope everyone enjoys! :) And please spare a prayer for my poor icicle fingers.

    Song of the Week #3!

    ~ Figgy ~ 21st March, 2010
Without a doubt, the most adored song in the LotRO Soundtrack is the music at Tom Bombadil's house. Once upon a time, in a tavern long, long ago, I encountered someone playing the song. "zomgwtfbbq!" I said, "Please please please add this to the Fat Lute!" and he did, like the star he is. It's a solo, and a great little song to play in busy places, and while waiting for groups. Most people instantly recognise it. So my nod this week goes to DarkCntry of Landroval for Tom Bombadil's Song aka Let Us Sing Together, by Turbine.

For anyone that hasn't downloaded the LotRO Soundtrack yet, you can get it from Digital Utopia by clicking THIS link (ZIP file).

    Song of the Week #2!

    ~ Figgy ~ 15th March, 2010
This week we're going to give a /salute to one of the most popular songs by one of the most popular transcribers. This Hobbit was supporting The Fat Lute right from the very start, gracing our site with her ABCs. The song of the week is the most voted on song on the website, and with an overall score of 92%, it speaks loudly about the quality of this tune. If you don't have this one, you need it! Introducing Concerning Hobbits, from the Sountrack of The Lord of the Rings, transcribed by Cranberry of Landroval.

Warden- Awwwww, that takes me back! For those of you who didnt know, that Eomin, Figgy and myself!!!

    Song of the Week #1!

    ~ Figgy ~ 7th March, 2010
So we're going to start off this new venture with a song everyone knows. Since today is my Birthday and I turned 25 after an awesome weekend in London, the song I have selected certainly has a theme! It's a song that everyone needs to have in their library, so I hope you download this to play to your friends on their special days.

So without further ado, our Song of the Week is Happy Birthday - For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, added by Toot of Landroval. Thanks Toot! Watch the video here, and registered users please don't forget that if you download the song and like it, you can use the star rating system - now fixed - in My Lute (near the log out button) to give the song the 3 cheers it deserves!

    Thanks for transcribing this, Toot!
